Dr. Ghulam Mohammad Asim is a Postdoctoral Researcher at University of the Ryukyus, Japan, and a Non-Resident Research Fellow at the University of Central Asia (UCA). Dr. Asim is a specialist in architectural heritage, urban morphology, and sustainable conservation of historic cities, as well as water management. He earned his Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Intelligent Engineering Systems from the University of the Ryukyus, Japan, where he also completed his master's in civil engineering.
He has published widely on topics including urban typology, material transformation, and community-based heritage management, contributing to the discourse on post-conflict reconstruction and cultural resilience in Afghanistan. Through his scholarship, Dr. Asim advocates for an integrated approach to urban heritage conservation, where tradition and innovation coexist to shape resilient, living cities.
