Mohammad Idrees Ahmadi is an accomplished geoscientist with extensive experience in geology, mineral exploration, GIS, remote sensing, and environmental analysis. Over his career, he has worked across Afghanistan, the U.S., and international organizations, blending academic excellence with applied field work.

Currently, Idrees works as a Geologist at Freeport-McMoRan in Tucson, Arizona, specializing in geological mapping, core and RC logging, resource modeling, and data integration. His work supports mineral exploration and resource evaluation projects.

In parallel, he holds several research interests in mineral systems, geospatial data analysis, and earth systems modeling. He earned his MSc in Geology & Geophysics from Missouri University of Science and Technology and a BSc in Geology and Mines from Kabul Polytechnic University.

Earlier in his career, Idrees contributed to major geoscience projects in Afghanistan, including liaising roles with the U.S. Geological Survey, managing GIS/remote sensing departments at the Ministry of Mines, and supporting international collaborations with GIZ and other agencies. His work spans field mapping campaigns, geological data systems, and training local geoscientists.

He is multilingual, fluent in Dari, English, Pashto, and Urdu. Idrees combines field-based insights with technical modeling skills to help advance sustainable resource development, environmental stewardship, and geoscience capacity-building.
